The National Soccer Coaches Association of America is pleased to offer its member coaches the opportunity to recognize an outstanding senior student-athlete on their team through the presentation of the High School Senior Excellence Award.
The award was created to allow NSCAA member coaches at the high school level to recognize an outstanding senior student-athlete in their program, with the intent of honoring exceptional contributions to the team while exemplifying the finest attributes of a high school student-athlete.
Selections are to be made based on the following criteria. The student-athlete must:
bulletBe a high school senior
bulletHave made significant contributions to the team
bulletRepresent the finest attributes of a team player
bulletConsistently project a positive attitude
bulletDisplays team leadership
bulletExemplifies the standards set forth in the NSCAA Player Code of Conduct and Ethics

The nominating coach MUST be a current NSCAA member. One player may be nominated in each respective season (boys and girls).
Coach Suleski has been an NSCAA Member Coach since 2000.  In his six years as varsity boys soccer coach at St. Thomas, Connor Bailey is the first of his players to win this award.
In nominating Connor for this award Coach Suleski said:

Connor was called up his Sophomore year from JV to help on the 25 man play-off roster.  His junior year he found himself in a supporting role as outside midfielder.  He was equally good on the attack as well as defending.  He had two goals as a Junior and added 3 assists as a senior to bring his career total to 7 points.  He earned a starting role as a senior.  His foot skills and shielding help him to outwit players twice his size.  He has speed and sense of field.  He was one of those remarkable players who gave 100% whether it was a practice or a game.  In my humble opinion he was one of the best outside midfielders in the division.  Connor won the team Sportsmanship award for 2011 which is voted on by the referees.  Each game a ballot and self addressed stamped envelope is given to the referees for them to choose two players from St. Thomas who they feel exhibit the best sportsmanship during the match.  Connor was also recognized as a NHSCA/NHIAA Scholar Athlete for being a senior and having a gpa of 3.25 or higher  He was also a member of the 2011 Team which earned a NSCAA Team Academic Award.
