Coach forgot to charge the camera batteries so photos are limited.
If that's
the biggest mistake I make all year then we'll be fine.
The rain was holding off after drizzling all day.
The Captains' won the toss
and Trinity kicked off.
The Saints started with Neil Hallock in net. A defensive line of TJ Tetreault, Noah Schwaegerle, Evan Surprenant and Jon Kiskinis. The Midfield was Tri-Captains Ed Conroy, David Ham and Jeff King in the center. Connor Bailey and Bryan King were the outside mids and Jon Nartiff was up top as striker.
The game started off with two teams going at each other very hard. There was a lot of contact for every 50-50 ball. the Referees had their work cut out for them to keep things in check. The wet field made footing precarious.
Trinity scored first at 12:48 when #4 Jacob Zimmerman took a direct kick after a foul and put a high arching shot on goal that Saints Keeper Neil Hallock was able to get a touch on but not enough to put it over the bar.
Sebastian Olsen went in at Striker and Connor Kennedy went in at outside mid and Tommy Griffiths went in at Defense. Griffiths would go on to play such good defense against Zimmerman that he basically took him out of the play for Trinity for the remainder of the game.
St. Thomas came back at 26:44 when Jon Nartiff sent a cross pass over to Ed Conroy who buried it into the back of the net.
The Saints put another in at 34:04 when Jeff King sent a cross pass to Conroy for his second tally.
Up 2-1 at the half St. Thomas began to settle in and control
the midfield in the second half.
The Saints large home field began to take
its toll on the Trinity Players.
At 58:10 David Ham sent a ball across the box that King ran onto and shot with a flying scissor kick to make the net jump.
At 76:12 King got his second tally on a cross from his
younger brother Bryan
(this is the 10th time the pair have combined)
Neil Hallock made 6 saves in the victory.
The Saints put
12 shots on the Trinity goal.
Julie Bailey sent some video of the team after the Trinity Game
(see it here if it doesn't load on this page in your browser)
The Saints (5-3) will travel across town to meet D1 Rivals Dover (3-5) on Tuesday 9/27.
